Melissa McGuire

Melissa McGuire, B.A., LL.B., Chief Operating Officer & Senior Consultant
With over eight years of experience in the field of program evaluation and applied social research, Melissa has already made her mark in the evaluation community. She began working for Cathexis on a full-time basis in 2003, and since that time, has been involved in over 45 different evaluation and review projects. Melissa’s education in law is unique among evaluators and is of great value to the Cathexis team, as it not only provides her with a deft understanding of legislation and its application, as well as policy development and analysis, but it also ensures the team has a knowledgeable resource to consult on matters relating to privacy protection, confidentiality, and legal risk as they arise.  She brings incomparable resourcefulness, intellectual flexibility, and analytical skill to the work she carries out and is respected among colleagues and clients for her exceptional project management skills.

Contributions to Evaluation
Melissa has developed and delivered workshops to other evaluators and professionals at Canadian Evaluation Society (CES) conferences on evaluation and data collection with vulnerable populations. In 2009, she spear-headed a study of evaluator compensation across Canada; the results of which were presented at the 2010 CES annual conference in Victoria, British Columbia. She has also been working with a team of consultants to develop Priority Sort, a collaborative priority setting method, which she presented to the evaluation community in 2010.
